One of the most elusive mammals in the tropics is the silky anteater, the world’s smallest anteater species. Only the size of a grapefruit when it’s balled up (and strictly nocturnal), it’s incredibly hard to find, and was one of my top ten bucket list species. We finally had a chance to view this one in Corcovado National Park. This was the best view we got (the eye is closed on the left side).
